February Pocket Chart Activities

Description This pack has 3 pocket chart chants and games for your students! Play in a small group, whole group, or use in math or literacy centers for engaging, interactive learning. ***Now aligned with Science of Reading best practices! Simple Prep – Endless Fun! Cut and laminate the chants and game pieces. You will need a pocket chart, and you may want a basket or bucket for the pieces as kids pick them out after the chants. Pocket Chart Activities Included: Hearts!– Work on beginning sounds by picking the hearts and identifying the picture sound. Includes an optional recording sheet to work on both upper and lowercase letter formation! ***Please note: In keeping with Science of Reading best practices, clipart for the sound /x/ shows pictures with the sound at the end of the word. We understand this might be confusing but the sound for /x/ does not occur at the beginning of words in the English language. Groundhog Day – Play with upper or lowercase letters for a matching game (or play a non-matching version). Also includes optional recording sheets! For the recording sheets, both upper and lowercase tracing options are included. There is a guided tracing font and a non-guided tracing font depending on which your students are ready for. Friendship Cake – Use the included page to type in your custom sight words or high frequency words (or NAMES) for this game. You can then choose to have students pick and read cupcakes OR match them to candles for a matching game.
